Some food products manufactured by a subsidiary of Kerry Group have been recalled in England, because of possible contamination.

Some frozen meals from Asda, Birds Eye, and Sainsbury's are being taken off the shelves.

The Food Standards Agency says there are fears they could contain small glass fragments.

Director of Kerry Group Corporate Affairs Frank Hayes says the alert is at a very low level.

The affected products have all been manufactured by Rye Valley Foods - owned by Kerry Group.

Consumers in England who may have bought any frozen, ready-to-eat meals that contain rice from these consumers have been advised to take the product back to the store.

Frank Hayes said the consignment was from the US and the tiny fragments of glass could not be identified by x-ray.

However, a decision was taken to recall the meals from the market and there have been no injuries to any member of the public.

It's unclear how much this will cost Kerry Group.
