Belfast tech firm opens Beijing office
A Belfast based high-tech company today opened an office in Beijing in a bid to grab a slice of the expanding Chinese economy.
Andor Technology, a developer and manufacturer of highly sophisticated scientific cameras and systems for measuring light, set up shop in the Chinese capital during an Invest NI trade mission to China and Hong Kong.
The UK Ambassador to China, William Ehrman, speaking at the opening, said the company was seeking business growth in the huge Chinese marketplace.
Andor already supplies equipment to leading research institutions and companies throughout China.
Mr Ehrman said: “I am delighted to welcome this ambitious Northern Ireland company to the developing cluster of technology-led businesses from the UK that are investing in this very dynamic marketplace.
“This investment positions Andor to benefit from the growing focus by the Chinese public and private sectors on advanced technology products and services.”
He said the opportunities in China for Andor’s products and expertise were substantial.
Aislinn Rice, Andor Technology’s sales director, said: “Setting up this office is a logical extension of our focus on China over the past eight years, a period which has seen our business there increase ten-fold.
“It’s in line with our strategic focus on becoming the global leader in pioneering and marketing high-performance light-measurement solutions for the global marketplace.”
He added: “China is a huge business opportunity for us and to maximise our potential we have to invest in the presence that will show our existing and new customers that we are serious about providing the technical and other services that they expect.”
