Dow hits 12,000 milestone s FTSE soars

The Dow Jones Industrial Average swept through the 12,000 mark for the first time today while shares in London were also on the rise.

The Dow, which is made up of 30 major stocks in New York including Wal-Mart and Microsoft, rose to 12,049.51 having set closing records seven times in the Past two weeks.
