There were 2,017,000 people in jobs in the second quarter of 2006, an annual increase of 87,800 or 4.6%.

This is the fifth successive quarter where the annual employment growth rate has exceeded 4.5% and is the first time the number of people in employment has exceeded two million, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) said today.
