The financials led the charge as the ISEQ index of shares surged ahead 122.20 points to 7516.28.
Anglo Irish was up 51c to €12.16, as Irish Life & Permanent gained 40c to €18.60. Bank of Ireland and AIB made more modest gains, up 29c and 26c to €13.95 and €18.75 respectively.
