Danske Bank Group's application for membership of the Irish Stock Exchange has been accepted today.

Danske Bank Group, which includes National Irish Bank, can now offer its clients trading access to over 70 Irish-listed securities.

Peter Straarup, Chief Executive of Danske Bank Group said: "This membership provides customers of Danske Bank Group throughout Europe with trading access to the Irish Stock Exchange.

"It gives our clients the opportunity to invest in Ireland, Europe’s most dynamic and fastest growing economy."

Through Danske’s eBanking platform, business and personal banking customers can manage their own investment portfolio and trade stocks and shares on their respective national exchanges as well as a number of major exchanges globally.

Access to the Irish Stock Exchange provides Danske Bank Group and National Irish Bank customers with trading opportunities in Irish equities.

Andrew Healy, CEO, National Irish Bank, said: "When National Irish Bank re-launches on Tuesday April 18, National Irish Bank will be the first bank in Ireland to give internet banking customers the ability to trade stocks and shares online."
