SIPTU more optimistic after Aer Lingus meeting
SIPTU leaders say they are a little more optimistic about key concerns surrounding the privatisation of Aer Lingus following a meeting with management.
The union wanted a commitment that there will not be forced redundancies or outsourcing under new ownership, and that the pension deficit will be addressed.
Union spokesperson Christy McQuillan says he believes management now appreciates the seriousness of the issues at stake.
The union is due to meet with shop stewards next Tuesday, and will hold a second meeting with management next Thursday.
