Jacobs jobs saved as staff vote for survival plan

The 300 jobs at Jacobs Fruitfield plant in Tallaght have been saved after workers at the company this afternoon voted overwhelmingly in favour of the company’s survival plan.

All 300 jobs had been under threat at the Tallaght factory when staff initially rejected the package.

But following intensive negotiations with politicians and trade unions, staff have agreed to changes in work practices.

The result of the vote was 202 to 36 in favour of the plan.

SIPTU say agreed pay structures will remain in place.

The union is confident workers have made the right decision.
