The State has reportedly lost more than €1m on the sale of a hotel it bought to accommodate asylum seekers, but which never ended up being used.

Reports this morning says Lynch's Lodge Hotel in Macroom, Co Cork, was bought in 2000 for €3.5m and sold last month for €2.4m.
