Vallent create 20 tech posts

Vallent Technologies, the telecommunications software provider, is to create 20 new hi-tech jobs at its Cork and Galway plants.

The jobs will be based across the US company’s Research and Development (R&D) divisions.

The company currently employs 110 staff in Ireland with 60 of those based in Cork and 50 in Galway.

The 20 new software development and software engineering jobs will focus on the firm’s R&D activities at both locations.

A spokesperson for Vallent said that the 20 jobs will be spilt evenly between the two offices, and that recruitment is currently underway.

Vallent, based at Cork Airport Business Park on the Kinsale Road, merged with WatchMark-Comnitel and Metrica Software Systems in November 2004, said it expects strengthening demand for its services.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin said: “Vallent is a leader in the global telecommunications software industry.

“With world-class R&D teams in Cork and Galway, it has enjoyed phenomenal success in advanced service assurance solutions for the telecommunications industry, and we wish Vallent continued success in the marketplace,” added the minister.

UCC graduate Kieran Moynihan, Vallent’s chief technology officer, said the company’s customers worldwide were experiencing “tremendous challenges” as they evolved to the next-generation networks delivering complex multimedia services.

“The increase in business opportunities requires us to expand our current team. Vallent’s R&D facilities were specifically set up in Ireland to leverage the extensive pool of world-class technical expertise that is available in here, and we are keen to take advantage of this now."

The company operates globally with headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, USA and major offices in Cork and Galway, Richmond and Bath in the UK, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
