Irish consumers are optimistic about the future of the economy, according to figures published today by the ESRI and IIB Bank.

Irish consumers are optimistic about the future of the economy, according to figures published today by the ESRI and IIB Bank.

The two organisations said their consumer sentiment index, which measures consumers' views on the current and future economic situation, had risen by eight points to 96 during the month of December.
