John Lewis reports 11.7% sales lift

Department store business John Lewis provided evidence of a pre-Christmas recovery on the high street today after reporting a sales lift of 11.7%.

The group, which is the first major retailer to issue sales figures, said there had been a “marked shift” in fortunes since the beginning of November.
