UK unemployment continues to rise

The number of people claiming unemployment-related benefit in the UK has increased for the tenth month in a row, figures showed today.

The so-called claimant count rose by 10,500 to 902,000 last month, an increase of 70,100 over the year and taking it to its highest level since December 2003.
