The ISEQ insex of Irish shares ended the week on a positive note and bucked global trends by finishing up 45.79 points to 7150.71.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares ended the week on a positive note and bucked global trends by finishing up 45.79 points to 7150.71.

AIB who today announced an increase in interest rates fell 11c to €17.79. The other financial heavyweights had a mixed day. Bank of Ireland also slipped, falling 7c to €13.63 and Anglo Irish Bank remained unchanged at €11.80. Irish Life and Permanent saw its share price soar 37c to €16.97.
