Electrical contractors want agreed pay rates enforced

The Association of Electrical Contractors in Ireland has called on the Government to ensure all contractors comply with agreed pay rates for electricians.

The association told the Oireachtas committee on enterprise and small business today that rogue contractors were putting legitimate operators out of business by ignoring the pay rates.

It said the Government should either enforce these rates or abolish them altogether and allow legitimate contractors to compete fairly with their rogue rivals.
