The World Trade Organisation appointed former EU trade chief Pascal Lamy of France as its new director-general today.

The World Trade Organisation appointed former EU trade chief Pascal Lamy of France as its new director-general today.

The WTO General Council chose Lamy after he beat out three other candidates in a two-month selection process. He will take over after current WTO director-general Supachai Panitchpakdi’s term ends on August 31.
