Inflation fears account for further FTSE losses

The FTSE 100 Index extended its losses today after an unexpected rise in inflation fuelled fears of further interest rate hikes.

The Footsie added to the 18-point deficit in the first hour to stand 31.2 points adrift at 4815.5 by mid-morning.
