US trade deficit soars to record

America’s trade deficit soared to an all-time high of £32bn (€45.6bn) in November, reflecting record levels for imports, the government reported today.

The Commerce Department said the November deficit was up 7.7% from an imbalance of £29.7bn (€42.4bn) in October, which had been the previous monthly record.
