Nokia today said it planned to lay off workers in Germany and Finland in a move to cut research and development costs by as much as 10% by 2006. The company didn’t say how many jobs would be cut.

Nokia today said it planned to lay off workers in Germany and Finland in a move to cut research and development costs by as much as 10% by 2006. The company didn’t say how many jobs would be cut.

The layoffs will be in the research and development section of Nokia’s multimedia division. The world’s largest mobile phone maker said the number of job cuts, “expected to materialise gradually during 2005,” would be decided later.
