Radio Free Europe search goes on for 'safe' location
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty will have its contract extended to stay in its current location in downtown Prague for up to two more years, officials said yesterday.
The Finance Ministry has drafted an extension of the current contract, which expires by the end of the year, said Marek Zeman, the ministry spokesman. He said the government will formally approve the extension before the end of the year.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks on the US, the Czech and US government agreed to move the station from a busy street in downtown Prague amid fears it could become a terrorist target.
The Czech government is still looking for another, safer location for the station.
