Crude oil futures rose in Asia today, with traders nervously monitoring heating oil supplies as cold weather sets in the Northern Hemisphere and workers in Nigeria threatened to go ahead with a strike.

Light, sweet crude for December stood at $47.74 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in after-hours electronic trade mid-morning Friday, up 32c from its close yesterday.
