Euro hits high against dollar

The euro hit an all-time high against the US dollar today, climbing on fears of rising oil prices and concern over the American budget deficit.

The 12-nation currency reached 1.2940 dollars in afternoon trading in Europe. It reached its previous peak of 1.2927 in February.
