ISEQ suffers in international climate
On a day when manufacturing news from the UK was not good, and the cost of a barrel of crude oil went above $51 for the first time ever, the ISEQ closed down 29.78 at 5677.7.
Iona Technologies had a particularly bad day, closing down 30c, or 9.1%, at €3.00.
It was also a poor day for Ryanair, as Aer Lingus dominated the news headlines and the low-fares carrier saw its share price drop 12c (3%) to €3.86.
There was good news for pharmaceutical company Elan, which closed up 39c (2.1%) at €18.77.
The financials were all down, with Anglo Irish Bank showing the most dramatic slide, closing down 20c (1.3%) at €15.10.
Bank of Ireland was the busiest share of the day, but fared little better, down 13c (1.2%) to €11.04.
Irish Life & Permanent dropped 12c to €13.25, while AIB finished the day at €13.85, down 4c from this morning’s price.
Building materials group CRH was busy as usual, and closed down 16c at €19.44.
Oil and gas company Aminex today announced plans for a share placing to be admitted on its ISEQ and FTSE listing. Its share price was unchanged at 19c.
