The Commission for Energy Regulation has signed a memorandum of understanding with its Northern counterpart as part of moves to establish an all-Ireland energy market.

The authorities on both sides of the border are hoping to establish such a market by 2007. The regulators in the two jurisdictions have put a management structure in place to deliver the agreed work and will jointly manage the project and share the costs.
