Oil set to hit fresh highs

Motorists could be facing further pain on the forecourt today after a barrel of oil in New York hit a fresh high at just below the $45 (€36.70) mark.

The cost of crude surged further from last night’s record to reach $44.99 (€36.65) before settling back to around $44.70 (€36.24).
