The European Central Bank decided to leave its key interest rate unchanged today as it sorts through mixed signals about future growth in the 12 countries using the euro currency – even as central bank rates are on the rise in the United States.

The ECB’s 18-member governing council kept the main refinancing rate at 2% at its monthly rate-setting meeting.
