The European Commission has said it has approved a €23.6m state aid package to IBM and Infineon AG's joint venture Altis Semiconductor, which is setting up a research system for smart chips.

The European Commission has said it has approved a €23.6m state aid package to IBM and Infineon AG's joint venture Altis Semiconductor, which is setting up a research system for smart chips.

IBM is the world's top provider of computer hardware and one of the world's largest software and semiconductor providers.
