Shannon aviation firm workers on protective notice

Aviation company Lufthansa Technik Turvine has issued protective notice to its 150 staff in Shannon.

The company said that a major fire at the plant last June, which halted production for nearly five months, the downturn in the aviation industry and escalating labour costs all contributed to losses of €2.5m which it suffered in the last year.
