DDT plans to spread in Irish marketplace

Irish communications company Direct Dial Telecom (DDT) has revealed cost saving telephone tariff packages that will be available nationwide.

The company has presented an evening and weekend package as well as a St Patrick's Day tariff for international calls.

Weekend fixed line calls are available to local and national numbers for a flat fee of €8 a month while weekday evening calls both locally and nationally cost €15 per month.

Existing customers can also phone the UK, USA or Australia for as long as they want for only 50 cent on St Patrick's Day.

Business users have been advised that DDT's call prices to the USA and Canada begin at 5.37 cent per minute while mobile calls begin at 15.35 cent.

Andrew Breslin, Managing Director at Direct Dial Telecom said: "Direct Dial Telecom was established to increase the savings that can be achieved by consumers within a deregulated telecoms market.

"Despite the implementation of deregulation here it is still very difficult for the phone user to actually calculate the rates offered by the various operators, that’s why we’ve implemented these packages and there are more in the pipeline.

"When we finally see the long overdue and needlessly protracted single billing issue properly addressed the phone user will be fully empowered to take advantage of Irish telecoms deregulation and it will turn phone time into a true consumer product at last," Breslin added.
