Japan is beginning to show signs of further economic recovery as the number of companies going to the wall is at its lowest level in four years.

Corporate bankruptcies fell 14.6% in 2003 from the previous year to 16,624 cases, with the total debt owed by bankrupt companies down 14.4%.
