The latest quarterly report from the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) shows 83% of the population now own a mobile phone, each user sending an average 78 texts per month.
More than 40,000 mobile users have switched networks since July, when the option was introduced to be able to switch network keeping your own number.
