The Singapore government and the European Patent Office have agreed to increase cooperation on the protection of intellectual property.

In a statement, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore said it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European agency aimed at further strengthening existing agreements through a series of activities between 2004 and 2006.

Activities will include improving expertise through training and increasing awareness of the need to safeguard intellectual property.

The Munich-based European Patent Office is the executive arm of the European Patent Organisation.
