McDonalds trims down the McNugget

Fast food chain McDonald’s is bringing in a new, less fattening Chicken McNugget in its ongoing bid to offer healthier food, it emerged today.

The all-white meat nuggets are being tested in outlets across the US before being introduced further afield.

McDonald’s has made a push toward more slimline foods recently, with analysts saying its profits were down as more people opted for healthier alternatives.

The new six-piece McNuggets will have 260 calories, down from 310, and 16 grams of fat, down from 20 grams.

The move comes weeks after the hamburger chain unveiled an adult version of the Happy Meal, which includes a salad, an exercise booklet and a pedometer meant to encourage walking.
