Retailers dominate after Tesco results

Retailers dominated the risers board of the FTSE 100 Index today after supermarket giant Tesco impressed with strong half-year figures.

The performance of the high street chain kept the Footsie in positive territory for a second successive session, gaining 17.8 points to reach 4278.7 by mid-morning.
