Deutsche Telekom to raise monthly fee

Deutsche Telekom AG has confirmed that it is to raise its monthly fee for analogue connections by €1.94 to €15.66, confirming an earlier press report.

Telekom said the move is in response to a requirement of the Regulatory Authority for Telecommunications and Posts and an EU anti-abuse provision.

The company is now required to pay off a deficit accrued on connection costs calculated at around €607m annually.

Because of this, Telekom said it has filed an application as part of the price-cap procedure to raise the monthly analogue connection charge.

Part of this price measure, it says is to raise the basic monthly charge of its T-Net 100 service by €1.46 to €18.45.

Telekom said that to offset these price hikes, it proposes to reduce its standard "City" rates by up to 50% at their peak.
