Prototype cellphone allows TV watching

NEC Corp has unveiled a prototype cellphone that is to allow users to watch digital television.

The phone may also have a function to record T.V. programmes and is due for commercial launch in 2005.

The new phones would also allow users to use push-button T.V. shopping and could cost up to 7,000 yen (approx €53) higher than regular models, an NEC official said.
