One millionth passenger for Aer Arann
Aer Arann has carried its one millionth passenger, which makes it one of the world's fastest growing regional airlines.
Passenger numbers of 650,000 are projected for the end of 2003, an increase in traffic of 59% which means the company is now flying more passengers in a week than it did throughout 1999, its second year of operation.
Commenting on the announcement Jennifer Mooney, Commercial Manager, Aer Arann said: "Our one millionth passenger represents a significant milestone for Aer Arann.
"The success the business has experienced further strengthens our commitment to our simple low cost business model, focused on connecting regional communities," Mooney added.
This year Aer Arann has introduced new services from Waterford to London Luton, Galway to Manchester, Isle of Man to Dublin and Glasgow Prestwick.
A new Dublin-Belfast service will begin later this month.
The company has also invested €500,000 in the development, roll-out and promotion of a new corporate logo and livery.
This is being introduced on a phased basis over the summer and will be supported with a TV, print and radio campaign in the Irish and British markets.
Now operating across seven domestic and nine British routes, the airline has a staff of 260 and a turnover currently in excess of €60m.
Aer Arann reported a 68% increase in passenger numbers in 2002.
