Motorola sees low take-up for 3G handsets this year
CeBIT Motorola said last week that it did not expect to see significant sales of its 3G handsets this year.
Bob Schukai, Motorola’s head of third generation products in Europe told Reuters that the company would probably sell less than a quarter of a million 3G phones this year. “There are just not enough consumers and operators” he said.
The head of Infineon, which sells chips for mobile phones, also said that he did not expect significant sales of 3G handsets in 2003.
