Manchester airport security staff to strike
Security staff at one of the UK's biggest airports were today staging a two-hour strike in a long-running dispute over jobs.
Members of the Transport and General Workers’ Union at Manchester Airport were taking industrial action from 6am in the latest of a series of walkouts.
The TGWU, which is protesting at cuts in security jobs, called on other union members at the airport to support the strikers.
Manchester Airport said it had contingency plans in place and advised passengers to turn up as normal for their flights.
Previous industrial action had not caused any delays to flights, a spokesman said, adding that security had always been the top priority.
