US firms to demand better infrastructure

US companies in Ireland are expected to demand that the new Government provide improved infrastructure in regions outside Dublin.

The US firms are expected to call for better road, rail, air, broadband and waste infrastructure.

Joanne Richardson, chief executive of the American Chamber of Commerce, said: “In Cork, there are 73 US companies employing over 15,000 people, in Galway/Mayo, there are over 44 US companies employing over 11,000 people and whereby a lot of the broad business needs common, there certainly are a number of regional specific issues.”
