European Commission president Romano Prodi said he does not anticipate any "dramatic problems" will arise over the succession to Wim Duisenberg as president of the European Central Bank.

European Commission president Romano Prodi said he does not anticipate any "dramatic problems" will arise over the succession to Wim Duisenberg as president of the European Central Bank.

At a press conference to mark the end of notes and coins in the 12 national currencies of the euro zone, he said that when the euro was launched an agreement was reached on the succession.
