Buzz passenger numbers rise after cutting fares

Low cost airline buzz enjoyed a 15% increase in the number of passengers booking last month, compared with November 2000.

The substantial rise follows buzz's decision to drop short-term price promotions in favour of a longer term fare restructure. This has led to its prices being cut by up to 45%.

Adam Harris, buzz Head of Sales and Marketing, says: "We're delighted with the latest figures and the response to our fare restructuring.

"People are increasingly sceptical of the constant stream of confusing promotions on offer and our substantial price reductions have helped remove that confusion, the figures speak for themselves.

"Bookings for Christmas and New Year are very healthy and we see these figures as a trend that will continue well into 2002."

The low-cost airline, which is owned by KLM of Holland, had predicted a 15% increase in bookings following the introduction of its new fares policy.
