Scientists in Germany have made a scientific breakthrough which could create 'living computers' with brains and implants that could repair damaged spinal cords or eyes.

The Max Planck Institute in Munich made the discovery by melding together the living nerve cells of a snail and a non-living silicon chip to create the world's first neuronal chip.
