Belfast aerospace company Shorts is working to reduce the total of up to 2,000 redundancies in Northern Ireland announced by its Canadian parent company Bombardier in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

It is looking at ‘‘repatriating’’ work which it sub-contracted out around the world when it was working to full capacity before the attacks, a company spokesman said today.
