The European Commission has dropped price-fixing charges against Ireland's two biggest banks after they decided to "significantly reduce" fees levied on currency exchanges.

The Bank of Ireland and the Allied Irish Bank were among more than 50 banks across the European Union accused of colluding to increase exchange fees or to control their decrease.
