The Director of the Small Firms Association Pat Delaney has warned that Irish business could face an economic meltdown if foot and mouth disease were to be confirmed in the Republic.

The Director of the Small Firms Association Pat Delaney has warned that Irish business could face an economic meltdown if foot and mouth disease were to be confirmed in the Republic.

The Association said more than 100,000 jobs would be at immediate risk. The entire farming sector would face ruin and the food processing industry and all sub supply business such as transport, animal feed, farm machinery and marts would be also be affected.
