A French artist has penned a moving tribute to the Irish fans offering us solidarity in our defeat.

Laure Rollier from the South of France sent in a picture of a French and Irish person drinking together in a bar.

In the picture, the French person says "We will truly miss you" and the Irish person responds, ’Don’t be sad my friend, I’ll be back."

Laure said she made the picture as a thank you to the Irish people who she says have been amazing throughout the tournament.

"We love the Irish people in France, you are a wonderful public. In France, everyone talks about Ireland because of your fans.

Laure also showed us this tribute put up on a French Facebook page for Euro news.

The post reads :

The Irish are eliminated ... In three weeks at home they have shown us so many beautiful things , beautiful things you could see in our country ...
