Ireland’s housing costs divide widens as rents continue to soar

Inflation figures yesterday showed that Ireland’s housing costs divide has widened, with mortgage costs continuing to fall while rents continue to soar.

And the huge divide could grow even wider if the ECB were next month to bring in measures to boost the eurozone. Such measures will likely keep Irish mortgage rates at low levels for years to come.

The costs of private rents climbed again last month, by 1.2%, and are now up 9.4% in the year.
