Mobile assets boosted by 4G

Significant progress in the area of 4G (fourth generation technology) and broadband penetration boosted the fortunes of Vodafone Ireland in its most recent quarter.

Mobile assets boosted by 4G

As of the end of December — the close of the third quarter of the company’s financial year — Vodafone had a customer base of 2.3 million people in Ireland. The vast majority of that figure — 2.1 million — is made up of mobile customers. However, it is mainly in the area of “fixed” custom, covering broadband in the main, that growth has occurred.

During the third quarter, Vodafone added 8,000 more fixed customers to its subscriber base, representing a 3.1% increase on the preceding three-month period and a 9% rise when measured on a year-on-year basis. Its total number of fixed customers now stands at 275,500 people.
