It is time for the Universal Social Charge to be given the door.

Universal Social Charge needs to go

So the Government and its senior officials are standing up to the troika. It is demanding that the troika butt out of Irish domestic politics after the troika advised it of its displeasure at the Government climbdown in the face of mounting street protests and the almost certain loss of power come the next election.

It’s a pity that we didn’t see this response to the EU, IMF or ECB when they really were coming the heavy and forcing us into worse and worse austerity measures. It’s a pity that we didn’t see this response after they reneged on the promise of support for carrying the load to save the euro by refunding us a substantial part of the €64bn that we spent. But firstly the troika forced us into a bail-out and then refused to allow us to burn the senior bondholders.
